Tutorial Help

I decided to get rid of the shoutbox. It's just too confined to try and help people with it. So if you're having any trouble with the tutorials, just post to this news item.

Abstract and Banner

Wrote an Abstract Shapes tutorial. This tutorial is pretty versatile in that it use PSP9's Quickscript option. Once you've saved the script, you can run it on any shape thereafter. Also, it's created with vectors so you can change gradients on the fly and resize without loss of quality.

Speaking of vectors, I wrote a Banner tutorial that uses only vectors. In case you're wondering why I don't do many vector tutorials, there are mainly two reasons: 1 - I'm not that good with them and 2 - they take a long time to explain. My rule is to keep tutorials under 10 steps and this one is my longest, clocking in at 9. Maybe if I actually drew something complex, I'd most definitely go over.

3D Text and Sig Tag

Created a 3D Text tutorial. It utilizes PSP 9's History palette. You'd be able to do this tutorial in 8, but you would have to do the repeating steps manually, as opposed to letting the History palette do it for you.

Also made a Sig Tag tutorial. Most people make these using brushes, but this one doesn't require any brushing. I might make a tutorial on how to make a grunge sig using brushes in the future, if I can figure out how to make one myself.

Pixel Stretch

Wrote a quick Pixel Stretch tutorial. It's the same technique I used in the aqua pill tutorial. Check it out, if you want.

Flame On!

This Flame Text tutorial was inspired by Greg Vander Houwen from PhotoshopTechniques. It uses similar techniques as his famous fire text but it is not supposed to be an exact copy. I use a few different steps to make it different.

I don't think I will be able to add this to the TextPack script as it includes a step that requires some skill on the part of the user. Still, it will probably be more satisfying to be able to create something on your own, as oppose to letting a script do it for you.

TextPack5 Script

This script will create a drop-down menu with 5 choices for text effects. They are: Chrome, Glass, GlassCut, Graffiti, and Zombie.

After you select an effect, a font browser will let you input some text and choose a font of your choice. It will then create the text for you. For PSP 9 or 8.

5 Must have scripts

These are some PSP scripts I found around the net that I found to be really useful.

• ColorizeFromRBG - Let's you use the Colorize adjustment by setting the foreground color. Much easier than using the dialog sliders to pick a color.
• SwatchSorter - Lets you sort your swatches by Hue, Saturation, Lightness, etc.
• MergeLinked - Merges layers in a linked set. (Found in Joe's Scripts #2)
• Making Preset Shapes From Dingbat Fonts - Creates Preset Shapes from fonts. Very useful for anyone who uses dingbats.
• NameThoseLayers - Lets you easily name the layers of an image. Very useful for those who don't name their layers when they create them, like me. (Found in the Scripting API.)
