Liquid Blot
1.Create a New 300x300 image with a White Background. Set the Foreground color to Black and the Background to the following Gradient:
Settings used:
- Gradient = Duotone Dark Blue
- Repeat = 0
- Style = Sunburst
- Invert = Unchecked
- Horizontal and Vertical = 25
Use the Preset Shape Tool and choose the Ink Blot shape. (Or you can choose any shape you want.) Make sure Create On Vector and Anti-alias are check. Retain Style should be unchecked. Set the Width to 3. Hold shift and draw a blot within the canvas.
Convert the Layer to Raster.
2. Duplicate the current layer. Press Ctrl+A, Ctrl+F, then Ctrl+Shift+F. This creates a selection.
Press Ctrl+H to Feather by 2, then go to Selections | Modify | Expand... and expand by 1.
Now go to Effects | Texture Effects | Sculpture... and use the following settings:
Settings used:
- Pattern = Pastel blue splatters
- Size = 200
- Smoothness = 50
- Depth = 73
- Ambiance = -40
- Shininess = 79
- Color = #0AA49F
- Angle = 237
- Intensity = 57
- Elevation = 60
3.Go to Adjust | Blur | Gaussian Blur... and blur by 4.
Press Ctrl+D to select none. Merge down the topmost layer. Now duplicate the current layer.
Go to Effects | Artistic Effect | Glowing Edges... use the following settings:
Settings used:
- Intensity = 2
- Sharpness = 8
Change the layer Blend mode to Lighten.
4. Press Ctrl+A, Ctrl+F, then Ctrl+Shift+F to create a selection.
Create a new layer. Go to Selections | Modify | Contract... contract by 6.
Set your Background color to White. Flood Fill the selection with the following Gradient:
Settings used:
- Gradient = Fading background
- Repeat = 0
- Style = Sunburst
- Invert = Unchecked
- Horizontal and Vertical = 25
Press Ctrl+D to select none.
5. Change the topmost layer's Blend mode to Luminance (Legacy) with an opacity of 65.
That's it! Now you can create a liquid blot.
