CD-ROM
1. Create a New 300x300 image with a grey background. Set your Foreground color to Black and your Background color to the following Gradient.
Settings used:
- Gradient = Button white
- Repeats = 1
- Invert = Unchecked
- Style = Sunburst
- Horizontal and Vertical = 50
Next, use the Ellipe Tool to create a circle that's 280x280. Make sure Create On Vector and Anti-alias are checked. Set the Width to 2. Center the object by going to Objects | Align | Center in Canvas (Remember this command as you will use it a few more times).
Convert the Layer to Raster.
2. Select the Magic Wand Tool and enter these settings.
Settings used:
- Mode = Replace
- Match Mode = RBG Value
- Tolerance = 20
- Sample Merged = Unchecked
- Contiguouse = Checked
- Feather = 0
- Anti-alias = Outside
Click on a blank area of the CD to create a selection inside the CD. Go to Selections | Modify | Expand... expand by 3. Make the Background Layer active, then create a New Layer. Press F to activate the Flood Fill Tool, then fill the selection with the following Gradient.
Settings used:
- Gradient = Metal Steel
- Angle = 65
- Repeats = 1
- Style = Radial
- Horizontal and Vertical = 50
Press Ctrl+D to select none.
3. Make the topmost layer active. Set your Background color to the following Gradient.
Settings used:
- Gradient = Metal chrome
- Repeats = 0
- Invert = Unchecked
- Style = Sunburst
- Horizontal and Vertical = 50
Use the Ellipse Tool to create a circle that's 105x105. Make sure Width is set to 0. Center the object.
4. Hide the Background layer, then merge the visible layers. Press S to activate the Selection Tool and enter these settings.
Settings used:
- Selection Type = Circle
- Mode = Replace
- Feather = 0
- Anti-alias = Checked
Set your cursor in the center of the canvas (x:150 y:150), then create a 76x76 circle selection. Now press delete.
Press Ctrl+D to select none.
5. Set your Background color to White. Use the Ellipse Tool to create a circle that's 80x80. Center the object. Convert the Layer to Raster, then set the layer Opacity to 50.
Press S to activate the Selection Tool. Set your cursor in the center of the canvas (x:150 y:150) and create a 40x40 circle selection. Now press delete. Press Ctrl+D to select none.
Set your Foreground color to Black and your Background color to None. Use the Ellipse Tool to create a 40x40 circle outline. Make sure Width is set to 1. Center the object. Set the layer Opacity to 40.
Create a New Vector Layer and use the Ellipse Tool to create a 135x135 circle outline. Center the object.
Hide the background layer, then merge the visible layers. Use Color Balance to change the color.
That's it! Now you can listen to your new CD-ROM.
