Graffiti Text
1. Create a New image at 800x600 with a White background. Set your Background color to White and Foreground color to Black. Use the Text Tool to create some Floating text using these settings.
Settings used:
- Font Name = Your choice — I used Tagster
- Size = 150
- Width = 1
- Create as = Floating
- Anti alias = Checked
- Stroke = Color | Black
- Fill = Gradient | Fading Background
For the Fading Background gradient, use these settings.
Settings used:
- Angle = 0
- Repeats = 0
- Invert = Unchecked
- Style = Linear
Press Ctrl+Shift+P to Promote Selection to Layer.
2. Go to Selections | Modify | Expand... expand by 3.
Go to Effects | Illumination Effects | Lights... Use the Soft Blue preset. If you do not have the Soft Blue preset, use these settings.
Settings used:
- Darknes = 50
- Light 5 = On (all other lights should be off)
- Color = #0f53ff
- Intensity = 50
- Direction = 0
- Horizontal = 0
- Vertcical = 0
- Scale = 10
- Smoothness = 100
- Cone Size = 30
- Asymmetry = 1
3. Make the Background layer active, then create a New layer. Press F to activate the Flood Fill Tool, then fill the selection with White
Note: You may want to toggle off the background layer visibility in the Layer palette to see the white outline.
4. Make the Background layer active, then create a New layer. Next, Expand the selection by 2. Flood Fill the selection with Black.
5. Make the topmost layer active, then create a New layer. Next, go to Effects | 3D Effects | Cutout... use these settings.
Settings used:
- Vertical = 10
- Horizontal = 10
- Opacity = 100
- Blur = 0
- Shadow Color = White
- Fill interior with color = Unchecked
Press Ctrl+D to Select None. Set the layer blend mode to Multiply.
6. Hide the Background layer, then merge the visible layers. Duplicate the merged layer. Go to Effects | Artistic Effects | Glowing Edges... use these settings.
Settings used:
- Intensity = 1
- Sharpness = 20
Apply a negative by going to Adjust | Color Balance | Negative Image. Next, go to Adjust | Blur | Gaussian Blur... blur by 5. Set the layer blend mode to Multiply with an Opacity of 85.
7. Duplicate the topmost layer. Set the layer blend mode to Dodge with an Opacity of 20 (or you can adjust it to your liking).
That's it! Now you can start tagging your web pages with some hip Graffiti text.
